President's Message

Welcome,

 I am Lance Elston President of the IMA Northern Lights Regional Council for this year.  In prior years I have been actively involved in the Minneapolis Chapter and served as a past president.  I am now looking forward to having the opportunity to take on this role in the IMA.

We have recently finished our summer kickoff meeting, and the year is heating up quickly with planning activities.  This fall we will again have a booth at the Student Accounting and Auditing Conference.  This will be a great opportunity to get the word out to the students and upcoming graduates who may be unfamiliar with the IMA.  In addition, this will also serve as an opportunity to inform them about the importance of the CMA designation as well as the world of Management Accounting.  We will also continue to support the CMA review programs that are offered at the University of St. Thomas.   In addition, the Council will continue to have meetings in October and February, where we are preparing for our Spring Education Seminar in April.   At this event we plan to provide continuing education to our members by having several speakers discuss emerging topics in the Accounting field.

Besides all of our planning, another important aspect of being on the regional council is TEAMWORK.  As a president I feel it is very important to give as much support to our chapters as possible and want the council to be able to assist all of the chapters in the Northern Lights Region for what ever they may need.  In addition, I’d like to see all of the chapters be able to communicate and work together by sharing their ideas with each other and the council.  We should also communicate to those members in the business community about the importance of the IMA.  If we can put all of our efforts and our teamwork together to help to promote the world of Management Accounting we can help keep the spirit of IMA alive.
